What is line dancing?

Dancing in lines

Line dancing is exactly what it sounds like: dancing in lines, all learning and moving together.

No partner required

You do not need to bring anyone with you, which makes it a great way to start even if you are coming alone.

Taught step by step

Dances are broken down clearly, with teaching, recaps and practice so you are never expected to just know it.

Music you can enjoy

Line dancing is not just one style of music. You will hear a range of tracks and rhythms depending on the class.

What your first class is like

Simple, welcoming and designed to help you settle in quickly.

1

Arrive and settle in

Arrive a few minutes early if you can, get comfortable and have a chance to see how the class works.

2

Learn step by step

New dances are taught clearly and broken down into manageable sections, so you can build confidence as you go.

3

Recap and practice

There are plenty of recaps and opportunities to repeat what you have learned, so no one is expected to get it instantly.

4

Enjoy the atmosphere

The aim is not perfection. It is about enjoying the class, joining in and leaving feeling better than when you arrived.

What to wear and what to bring

Wear

Comfortable clothes you can move in easily.

Shoes

Suitable footwear is recommended so you feel secure and comfortable on the floor.

Bring

A non-alcoholic drink if you would like one during class.

Mindset

Come ready to have a go. Nobody expects you to know it all on day one.
