There are two Line Dance awards coming up in the new year and the first one has now opened up their ‘People’ Nominations.
The Crystal Boot awards are International Line Dance awards, effectively considered the ‘Oscars of the Line Dance World’.
The dance categories are nominated year round through votes for specific dances on the Line Dancer website that you can cast each month.
The People award nominations are made via an online survey (link below).
The way this survey works is that you can make THREE selections for each category. Whilst there is a list of names for each category shown to select from.
You can nominate ANYONE you want to nominate using the text box at the bottom of the list.
You do not have to make three choices for each category, that is just the maximum.
For a lot of you, this is the first time you’ll be exposed to Line Dance Awards so I’ve put together a little primer.
I’ll give examples of names you might recognise, this is not a voting suggestion.
The Categories are
DJ of the Year: This could be anyone who DJ’s at Line Dance clubs, socials, events etc. Some names you will recognise are Gary Lafferty, Michelle Risley and Michael Lynn (Please note Michelle and Gary cannot be nominated as they have won it too many times!)
Artist of the Year: These are performing artists (musicians, singers) that cater to the Line Dance world. For example, Sammi Lee Bassey, Billy Curtis etc
Female Personality of the Year: Personalities within the Line Dance Industry. Some names you might recognise/remember are Michelle Risley, Mona Leth etc
Male Personality of the Year: Male Personalities within the Line Dance Industry. Some names you might recognise are Karl Harry Winson, Michael Lynn, Gary Lafferty
UK Instructor of the Year: This category is for any Line Dance Instructors. You’ve all met several instructors so choose who you think should be nominated here.
UK Choreographer of the Year: The ones who write the dances, UK Based. Choose your favourite dances and have a quick google to see who wrote them if you don’t remember, check if they are UK and select from the list or write in a name.
International Instructor of the Year: Non UK Instructors. Many of you have not been exposed to many non UK instructors but for example, for those who came to the June weekend, you all met Mona Leth.
International Choreographer of the Year: Choreographers that are not from the UK. A quick example here is Ben Murphy choreographed ‘A Bar Song’, Malene Jakobsen wrote Glass of Wine.
Digital Service 2024: These are generally online platforms. For example we use Everything Line Dance a LOT for information, step sheets etc, we also try to use Line Dance Dallas for demo videos.
Rising Star 2024: This is someone in the Line Dance World that is on the rise. They are achieving things. It could be choreography, music, teaching, building a community or business.

Nominations for the UK Line Dance Awards start in January and we’ll post about those closer to the time
